چکیده
Considering the unique operation of each nuclear power plant and lack BWR fuel examination data after dry storage, Taiwan Power Company Institute Nuclear Energy Research conduct "The Fuel Storage Demonstration Project in Taiwan" to collect characteristics under storage. In this project, rods among different designs venders will be loaded into a simulated storage cask for 10 years. Different temperatures environments adopted, normal condition acceleration experiments performed. Non-destructed examinations executed prior loading periodically during After years, extracted examined non-destructively destructively. This paper summarized methodology demonstrate adequacy spent design fabrication containers, results performance test project progress. Two containers used prospective experiments; one is condition. The other accelerated various conditions. completion collected research compared with international projects provide technical basis Taiwan.

متن کاملThermal assessment of new Ignalina NPP casks for spent nuclear fuel storage at some abnormal conditions
For interim storage of spent nuclear fuel (SNF) at the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant (INPP), the so-called “dry” storage technology has been chosen. In this case, SNF after a cooling (pre-storage) period in water pools (no less than 5 years) is placed into GNS (Germany) manufactured metal CASTOR ® RBMK-1500 or reinforced concrete CONSTOR ® RBMK-1500 casks and may be stored for at least 50 years ...
متن کاملAmplicon Sequencing Reveals Microbiological Signatures in Spent Nuclear Fuel Storage Basins
Water quality is an important determinant for the structural integrity of alloy cladded fuels and assemblies during long-term wet storage. Detailed characterization of a water filled storage basin for spent nuclear reactor fuel was performed following the formation and proliferation of an amorphous white flocculent. White precipitant was sampled throughout the storage basin for chemical and spe...
متن کاملInstant Release Fraction Corrosion Studies of Commercial UO2 BWR Spent Nuclear Fuel
The instant release fraction of a spent nuclear fuel is a matter of concern in the performance assessment of a deep geological repository since it increases the radiological risk. Corrosion studies of two different spent nuclear fuels were performed using bicarbonate water under oxidizing conditions to study their instant release fraction. From each fuel, cladded segments and powder samples obt...

Abstract. The Swedish KBS-3 design for the disposal of spent fuel is based on its encapsulation cast iron cylinders that have an outer 30 – 50 mm thick shield of copper and deposition in crystalline rock embedded in bentonite at a depth of about 500 m. The KBS-3 system is based on a multi barrier system where the canister is the primary barrier. The cast iron insert gives the canister the neces...
